Brinkman has been painting professionally since 1986. He lived in Europe in the 1980's which is where much of his art subject matter originates.
Some of his first pieces were shown in Paris, France in the early 1990's sponsored by Les Arts et Lettres de France-Association Cuturelle Nationale, a non-profit organization that has its focus on the promotion of the arts and written words of individuals. Following one of his first private showings, Brinkman was a brought on as a 'Resident Artist' for Neiman Marcus, His pieces were designed and featured after the infamous Neiman Marcus Christmas catalogue.
Private and Public showings have taken place over the years in several US cities as well often yielding excellent reviews.
His works are hanging in both publically and in private collections from a small village in Eastern France to all over the United States.
While independently holding limited private art shows, and occasionally participating in public 'artist select' art showings, most pieces are created and available either by request through private contract work or simply by his drive and passion to create and paint.
