'Bob Dornberg is an extraordinarily prolific artist. Over the past twelve years, he has produced more than 1000 oil paintings that encompass his enormous “Slices of Life” series. In his collection, Dornberg explores all that is life, including a dreaded hangover; personal interactions with family and friends; the full range of human emotions; a sweet day at the beach; and his ubiquitous theme of boating. Bob’s work represents a juxtaposition of life itself. His pieces explore the relationship between objects, shapes, lines, spaces and colors; all coming together to create an unbelievably compelling and visually impactful story. Bob Dornberg is an incredible artist; perhaps one of the most productive in modern-day art. His body of work is a collectors dream. Dornberg was born in Los Angeles in 1940. He and his twin brother have painted since an early age. Dornberg was inspired by Rempel in high school to explore juxtaposition, and by Elgart and Amato at UCLA to paint anything and to do it a lot.
Over the last 12 years he has produced over 850 oil paintings (which are displayed at, www.dornberg-impressionism.com). Images of his work appear on websites, in poetry e-zines, in printed publications and on book covers.
It is essential to study the elements that make a painting great. These include: relationships of objects, shapes, lines, spaces and colors; their juxtaposition toward the surface and boundaries; their rhythm and balance.
