l specialize in marine art - seascapes and boats. I studied oil painting in Gloucester, Mass. with Margaret Taylor, Robert Benham and also painted with Emil Gruppe. While living and painting on Cape Cod from 2002 to 2006 I was greatly influenced by the watercolo work of Anton Stetzko who induced me to try that media.
I now live and works in Melbourne, Florida and am a member and Board Member of the Strawbridge Art League. While my early work was with oils and watercolor; I now work soley in the mixed-media of Acrylics, Pen & Ink. i grew up in a fishing family in America’s most famous seaport, Gloucester, Massachusetts. My paintings reflect that area’s famous sailing fishing and trading schooners. In recent years I have added working figures of fishermen and sailors to many of my paintings to help them tell a story of the era they represent. I enjoy also paints historical scenes of early Gloucester, New England and Florida and Bahamas.
My wife, Therese A. Kraemer is an author of poetry and romance novels and works in pencil, pen and ink to create sketches of animals and portraits of children, cats and dogs. Together, we own Indian River Artist Studios and much of our artwork is displayed on our website at: http://bill-hubbard.fineartamerica.com
