Artists search early on to find their niche, and whatever genre, most would agree they strive within their work to evoke a reaction - a sort of visceral feeling - from the viewer. My journey to find myself was no different; I tried them all. Along the way, I learned an important lesson: if the artist does not feel the emotional impact of their own work, nobody else will, either.
With that in mind, I turned to the pleasure my husband and I receive from our dogs everyday: the wagging tails waiting at the door, the pure joy of going for a walk, the indescribable serenity of a heartbeat curled at your feet. These are simplistic, unencumbered expressions of love that I strive to transfer to a canvas. No deep meaning intended, no deep thinking required ...
