I’ve always felt an interest in the arts. My grandmother loved to paint ceramics, and my mother learned watercolor painting by taking lessons at nights and painting late into the night after her workday as an English teacher. I had some early successes with art and enjoyed it in school, yet in high school and college I was drawn into science and engineering, and focused on my technical career for many years.
