I was born in Los Angeles but moved to Orange County when I was in the 11th grade of high school. Of course I took art classes all through high school and college but since I was a single mother of three, I wasn't able to pursue art like I wanted. I had to work, and have had many jobs along the way but I've always found time to paint and draw at home. My last full time job was as a 9-1-1 operator, dispatching police and fire equipment. Since retiring, I worked with a friend who sold corporate clothing to major Real Estate Companies. She did the selling and I did the production. Production consisted of embroidery, sublimation and the application of crystal heat transfers. She finally retired (due to a shoulder injury) but I did learn a lot of new things. I designed many logos for embroidery and crystal transfers, and custom graphics for sublimated t-shirts. I still do sublimation and embroidery on my own. I also do promotional items in sublimation, like mugs, plaques, clocks, mouse pads, and much more. You can find all this on my website.
Like I said, I have been painting all my life but have not taken the time for any formal training. Maybe someday I will! I love to experiment with different styles, techniques and work in all mediums. I don't have a favorite because each medium has something unique about it. If I had to choose, I guess I would pick pastels and pencil as sort of my favorites. But those would be lukewarm favorites since I love whichever one I'm working with at the moment. I also enjoy digital graphics. My specialty would probably be Family and Pet Portraits in pencil. Some of my paintings are signed Arline Blender. That was prior to getting married and now signing as Arline Wagner.
