Amelia holds an Honours BA in Near Eastern Archaeology and a General BA in Canadian History from Wilfrid Laurier University. During her third year, she travelled overseas to partake in an excavation at Bamburg Castle in Northumberland in England. Prior to the dig, she explored continental Europe, London, and the big cities of Scotland. She continued her studies at Fleming College receiving a Post-Graduate Certificate in Museum Management & Curatorship. Out of school she started as Assistant Archivist at Grey Roots Museum & Archives; a county-run, state-of-the-art heritage centre just outside of her childhood home of Owen Sound, ON. Her position allowed for extreme creativity including photography, and photo manipulation, adult and child programming, along with web and exhibit design. In 2009, her life changed, as she was involved in a major car accident. Since then, she has been using fine art as therapy. She discovered encaustic during a weeklong workshop offered at a local gallery and was hooked. Always looking to learn, she is enrolled in ongoing painting, drawing, and creativity classes.
