Pop Art
The Pop Art movement emerged mid and late 1950s in Britain & the U.S. It challenged traditions of fine art by its inclusion of popular culture imaginary, with advertising, news, etc.; at times visually removing material out of its accepted context & isolating and/or combining it with unrelated material. Pop Art employs images of popular culture in defiance to elitism in art & ordinary everyday elements. Product labels and logos figure prominently in the imagery chosen by pop artists e.g. Campbell's Soup Cans labels by Warhol. This gallery is my gentle nod to this art form.
