Artist Statement
I am amazed by the elemental forces in nature that create the world we live in. I believe in appreciating as well as helping to sustain the natural world around us. The interactions of elements such as fire, water, air, and earth create and sustain our universe and those processes inform and inspire my work. My series of photographs are based on the beauty of the natural world in its own form to how it intersects with the man made world.
Artist Biography:
Sri Prabha is an emerging artist whose evocative, and dynamic, yet meditative photographs connect the viewer to the interplay of the forces in nature. His love for nature and his belief in protecting the world’s natural resources inspire his photographs.
Sri immigrated to the US as a child and eventually found the freedom to pursue a career in the arts. Sri graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a concentration in Painting and Photography, and has a Masters in Psychology. He has also attended Mass Art and Cal Arts, taken printing workshops at CCSF in San Francisco, and digital printing at Kala Institute in Berkeley. Sri had worked in Motion Graphics and video art in San Francisco until 2006. He appears in the September 2006 issue of American Photo magazine as winner for the Ford Motion in Drive contest. He has also shared his technical and creative expertise by teaching at Film Arts Foundation and Expression Center for Digital Arts.
Sri has shown at the Toronto Art Fair, The Art Explosion Studios in San Francisco, in juried shows at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville, Maryland, and is scheduled to show at the Ratner Museum in Bethesda, Maryland. He has recently won the Juror’s award at Green, Art With the Earth in Mind Show at Annmarie Garden for his mixed media works.
