Skip Stutler

Skip Stutler,born an Army Brat traveled the world and lived abroad as a youth.Seeing and exposed to art of different cultures.Skip as a youth as early as 6 years old was gifted.As a six year old in an after school class Skip sketched a nay destroyer extremely detailed,in fact exact details.Skip had never seen a navy destroyer which was most amazing and puzzling to the teachers and parents.
In teen year`s Skip persued music and his love of wild life,spending countless days in the woods fishing and just exploring nature.
In later teen`s Skip had a relationship with a lovely ladie who was studying art in college.This was in the sunny Key West where a bohemian artist colony flourished.She introduced Skip to the local artist community and at the same time encouraged his music endevour development.
Skip would visit his new friends at home and see their parents art studio`s in motion,see their galleries downtown.A total inspiring setting to re-awaken the artist within which he seemed to put asiide for the love of the islands and his music,but there deep inside.
As the years went by Skip took up learning stone sculpturing and sold some original pieces but was dismayed at the lack of good stone to work with without having to drive everyone crazy with dust flying.So as the artist passioned started consuming him again.Skip turne to wood carving,Self teaching hisself at the art of carving and learning and questioning everyone for tips.As winter fell he realized doing carving on the scale that he was oing was impossible Skip turned to wood burning art and combining oil pastels to the sketch`s on wood he drew.
Skip couldnt escape his island time an incoporated his love of the islands in every one of his artworks.
Skip went one step further and enrolled in collge studying drawing and ceremaics where upon his ceramics were entered into shows by his professors.His drawing drew rave reviews by his peers because of the uncanny sense of minute detailing in shadows making faces look surrealistic.
After taking a break from school to persue his wood burning art Skip fell in love with tie dying and photography.Skip knowing computer programming had knowledge of all the photoshop ware out there.Skip tried some and was amazed but he prefered to manipulate real pictures instead of the tedius task of creating thru illistrator and such.To each his own as Skip is a hands on artist wanting to see nature instead of creating it on a pc to be manipulated.
In the meanwhile Skip also taught hisself how to do clay sculpturing aside from what the college taught him.Working with sculpy'and learing how to make cold porcelin.He made a tie dye quilt which he never did again because of the hard work that he acknowledge women are better at them himself.
Skip also does gemstone hunting which led him to teach himself the craft of cutting stone and wire tying.Thru his clay work he discovered the bead making world which he is wisely leaving alone as that is all emcompassing and time comsuming in itself.
Skip enjoys video production as his pc experience entailed knowing every aspect of the pc which meant knowing programs like windows movie maker.Skip loves snapping pictures and carries his camera on him at all times.He is currently tackling french goth clay work.Thank you for your interest.Enjoy and please purchase some true tropical art.
