My photography and digital art are an expression of my gratitude for the gift of Vision. My life experiences channel where that energy goes. I have been blessed with a second chance at 'sight'. Two individuals donated their Corneas and I received them, one in 2011 and the other in 2012. The brilliant team at the New England Eye Center, in Boston made this possible. Dr. Hu and his entire staff are my heros. My blog will contain more about this aspect of my life.
Perception made manifest, is the way I'd describe my art, in part. The mirrored back expression of that which I 'see' is the end product of a need to experience creation as a form of art itself. My whole life has been an endless act of creation, revision, completion, and moving on in some form or another. It didn't matter if I was writing poetry, (which will also show up in the blog from time to time) or prose, decorating houses, or renovating them, sewing quilts, or upholstering furniture, painting, or building and dismantling collections......all the ways in which the material world comes together then apart has held an endless fascination for me, so photography and digital art and mixing mediums is just a natural progression.
Because of my Eye 'Dis Ease' -- Fuch's Dystrophy and Corneal Edema, I have to look harder to see. What I perceive with my eyes is not always there, and often what is escapes me. As anyone engaged in battling blindness can tell you everything changes when you begin to lose your visual cues....but there are 'Up Sides'....many in fact, (again refer to blog, lol). All the photography and art on this website has been created since my fight began and I won't stop because I'm having way too much fun! I am self taught and am hopeful the learning will continue in a seamless fashion into the forseeable future. I hope you enjoy what you see.
