Hello, my name is Keith Webb. I am a self-taught artist living in Deerfield Township, Ohio (near Cincinnati). I specialize in pet portraits and animal art, working primarily on a commission basis. I have been drawing for many years and, although I have dabbled in other mediums such as oil and pastels, I still love the dramatic effects achieved by the simple pencil.
I was raised in a family of animal lovers, all members of which have a small menagerie ranging from cats and dogs to birds and tortoises. It was a forgone conclusion that I decided to specialize in animal/pet art. When creating a portrait, I try to bring out the soul of the animal and I strive to achieve a realistic look that reflects all of the subject’s little quirks – everything that makes the animal who he or she is.
My medium of choice is carbon pencil. Carbon pencils can produce the dark darks possible with charcoal, but also have the ability to create fine details achievable with graphite pencils.
