Hello, My name is Glenda Barrett. I began drawing at an early age. In fact my sister says I drew on our bedroom walls. My first classes took place at Young Harris College where I graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree. I also studied with two different art teachers at Tri-county community college in North Carolina. I worked for twenty years in various jobs within the medical field, until I was forced to retire at fifty years old with a neuromuscular disease. At that time I had finished a series of writing classes. I still find it astonishing, but with the Good Lord's help I was able to turn lemons into lemonade. I learned when life seems to be over, it can just be beginning. I fell back on my hobbies, writing and painting. I'd work small amounts of time between pain and surgeries. Soon, my work was being published. At this time I am widely published and have my first poetry chapbook online at Amazon.com. The title of it is, 'When the Sap Rises.' I feel very fortunate to have been able to create a simple life in the mountains of North Georgia with my husband, two grown children and two grandchildren. And I'm lucky enough to do the things I loved as a child. Thanks for visiting my site.
