Donna E Dixon is a painting artist based in Northern Georgia-USA, and owns True Vine Studios in her home of Clayton, Georgia where she is surrounded by the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains. Dixon is mostly self-taught, follows her passion of painting and found her love of art at a young age.
Dixon describes her artwork as colorful, positive and uncomplicated. She says she is inspired by Impressionist painters and nature is one of her most common sources of inspiration, and elephants are one of her favorite subjects. She supports efforts to protect both African and Asian elephants, along with other endangered species.
'I want to show how everything has beauty and is best left and appreciated undisturbed, unadulterated. The result I want to accomplish is a creative or peaceful time warp for the viewer. At other times of course it is necessary to convey conflict. I would like for my artworks to help or remind others to 'stop and smell the roses' , even to activate the creativity of ones own mind.
I use mostly acrylics, oils, and mixed media.'
You may spot her art in the background of Hollywood movies. Two paintings of Dixon's entitled 'Chickadees' & 'TwoBears' can be seen in the 2012 film Wanderlust -a Universal Studios comedy produced by Judd Apatow, directed by David Wain and starring Paul Rudd with Jennifer Aniston.Dixon says this was very inspiring to say the least.
She has recently signed on with Saatchi Art, and was one of the featured artists for the 'Originals for $500 and Under Collection.'
