Donna Dixon is a painting artist based in Northern Georgia-USA, where she paints from her studio in her home.
Ms. Dixon grew up in both Houston and Austin, Texas, all the while returning to northern Georgia where she spent her childhood.
After completing studies as a Medical Laboratory Technician, she worked in the medical field for over 20 yrs.
She has recently been able however, to pursue her passion as an artist full time.
A lifetime self taught learner Dixon, was always a painter and creative person and started painting at an early age as a preteen. She sold her first painting at the age of 12 to a couple who worked for her father.
Dixon says she actually got 'side tracked' into the medical field but does not regret her time or training as a Lab Technician.
Ms. Dixon says one of her main goals in fine arts is to create an appreciation for the unadulterated beauty of a subject, place or time for the viewer or sometimes just to put spark and color for the viewer.
She uses mostly acrylics or oil on stretched canvas.
She draws inspiration from the Impressionist Masters & nature itself and feels a deep connection between the animal kingdom and humans. She is also a fan of color, lots of color, and says one can never have too much color in their life.
She quotes. 'I want to bring beauty into the world (or at least the room)'
The two works named, Two Bears, and Chickadees, were used on the set of the Universal Studio movie, 'Wanderlust', which was filmed on location in Clarkesville, Georgia. Dixon says this was very inspiring to say the least.
She has recently signed on with Saatchi Art, and was one of the featured artists for the 'Originals for $500 and Under Collection.'
Dixon spends most of her time painting and caring for her adopted pets and living her dream of being a full time, fine artist. She is a human and animal rights activists and you may well see some of her works as charity donations to causes or donating a percentage to charities of her choice.
