This might be one of the most photographed locations on the Riverwalk in San Antonio because of the colorful umbrellas. The colors also seem to exemplify the culture of the area. This is Casa Rio, the first San Antonio business to open its doors to the River and take advantage of the River's setting. It was founded in 1946. The Riverwalk is one level beneath the streets of San Antonio and a great way to beat the heat up above in the summer! But in the early morning hours it is quiet, the light filters gently from the street above, and the colorful umbrellas are mirrored in the water below. FUN FACT: Casa Rio was the first to use canoes, gondolas, and paddle boats on the river which then evolved into tour and dinner boats that are seen today.
