The painting depicts the morning sunrise on Swinton Creek. The painting is of Alice's backyard, the tail end of a little tidal creek that opens into the Toogoodoo River, south of Charleston.
About Alice Grimsley
Alice Stewart Grimsley Watercolorist, Oil Painter and Instructor Alice Stewart Grimsley, native of the South Carolina Lowcountry, resides by Swinton Creek, Yonges Island. Born and reared in Charleston, she moved to Yonges Island amid the turmoil of Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Her studio is located at her home. You can find her originals and reproductions at Birds I View on Church Street in Charleston South Carolina. She is also Artist in Residence for the South Carolina Arts Commission and participates in fine art shows and exhibitions throughout the South. After receiving a Bachelor of Art degree from Winthrop College in 1971, Alice became a high school art teacher in the state public school system. She earned a Masters Degree in...
