Absolutely loved my print. The depth and details are spectacular and the quality of the print is fantastic. I framed this in a white frame and didn't have the exact size handy so kept the lower space intentionally open. I love how it came out.

I bought this for a friend who lived in France for many years. Now that she is back in the states she misses France her favorite country. When I spoke with her on the phone she absolutely loved it. It showed all the places she lived or visited. She loved that it had an antique flair. She is getting it framed when she can. This my gift for her to bring up her spirits. She has stage 4 cancer. This 8"x8" painting was created on a wood panel 1.5" deep. The raw wood was lightly stained to accentuate the natural wood grain. The Lotus was painted with acrylic, and then collaged over with handpainted found papers. Flakes of gold and silver leaf accentuate the center of the bloom. The surface is coated with a gloss top coat.
About Shadia Derbyshire
My most recent work draws more inspiration from color and texture than distinct subject matters, and my objective remains to imbue my canvasses with a sense of emotion. Through the intricate texture and vibrant color in my pieces, I aim to create a visceral response in the viewer; my hope is that the viewer may connect with them emotionally rather than through conscious, deliberate effort. In this way, viewers create their own interpretations through this initial connection, and the narrative of the piece becomes secondary. I was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan.
