Artist's Description
The Ellicott Square Building is an office complex in Buffalo, New York, USA. It was designed by Charles Atwood of D. H. Burnham & Company, and completed in May, 1896. At the time of its completion, it was the largest office building in the world.[1] In 1896 and 1897, the building was the site of Edisonia Hall and the Vitascope Theater, the earliest known dedicated motion picture theater in the world.[2]
At 10 stories high with the capacity to support 10 more floors and 447,000 square feet (41,500 m2),[3] the Ellicott Square Building was the largest office building in the world by floor area until 1908, with the opening of the Hudson Terminal buildings in New York City. It was built at a cost of $3.5 million in less than one year. The building was named after Joseph Ellicott, the planner and surveyor who laid out the then-village of Buffalo.
About Peter Chilelli
Art is but one of many passions for me. I believe creativity and imagination requires no formal training and all of us have an artist within. I spent much of my life drawing and painting in traditional ways, but years ago, I found with my computer I could create far more than my skills with a pencil or brush could ever produce. What took me days or weeks by hand, now took hours and allowed me to go places with art I only dreamed of before! I have also added photography to my galleries as another way to create. On my pages you will find everything from aviation and architecture to still life, all featured as fine art. -Peter-
