I fell in love with this photo the day that Jan posted it. The cards are beautiful, frame able for a small space. I like that they have plenty of room for writing or doodling inside.

Love dragons this card was even better in person when it arrived.
This is the same vessel that appears in my painting,"Cutty Sark in Penn Cove Fog", but here the weather is clearing. In the background is my community of San De Fuca, the oldest community on Whidbey Island, Washington. In fact this is the only painting I've done so far where my home actually shows up. In the distance where the clouds gather at the horizon, is where the community of Oak Harbor is located. I like the sense of weather that's conveyed by the towering clouds massing on the horizon, but opening up above. The color of these sails are referred to as "tan bark". I contemplated naming this painting that.
Perry studied and received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from Washington State University, and has made a living with his art since 1965. His work is included in numerous collections and he holds many awards. Puget Sound raised, he lives on Whidbey Island fifty miles north of Seattle, Washington. Painting what surrounds him, he says, "I feel each piece of my art is like a word (or sentence), and when all is said and done I would hope people would say I had something interesting to say."
