Artist's Description
After a week of pretty awful weather, this afternoon the skies finally cleared to make way for a great sunset.
This was taken looking west from Canada Place. In the foreground to the left is the west building of the Vancouver Convention Centre, with the Shaw tower in the background.
To the right can be seen the (at the time virtually unoccupied) new seaplane terminal -- the majority of seaplanes continuing to use the old facility (it was all a bit political). The right-most building in the distance is the Westin Bayshore hotel, with Stanley Park and the mountains beyond.
About Alexis Birkill
Born in the UK, I moved to Vancouver, BC in 2011. My career in photography has grown from a long-held passion for capturing the beauty of the world, aided on the technical side by my background as a software developer. I specialise in fine art photography of landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes in and around the Pacific Northwest, with work exhibited internationally. Many of my photographs feature the beautiful city of Vancouver, but as well as capturing its iconic cityscapes, I can often be found exploring the BC and Washington coastline for new photographic opportunities, as well as developing my portfolio of night sky photographs featuring the Milky Way and the Aurora Borealis.
