This painting represents a buffalo hunt or chase on horseback by a Plains Indian. The pony and the buffalo are almost equally as fast but only one will survive, the buffalo's first reaction is flight, but they have been known to turn the odds against rider and pony. The rider usally gets close enough to shoot his arrow and bring this awesome beast down. There is a rope tied around the neck of pony to stop it should the rider falls off.
