Cabaret Au Lapin Agile (The Nimble Rabbit) is located at 22 Rue des Saules in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. In the early 20th century, the cabaret was a popular hangout for struggling artists like Picasso, Lautrec and Modigliani. It reached world prominence in 1904 when Picasso painted his famous piece "At the Lapin Agile". Situated in Paris' famous Montmartre area in the shadow of Sacre Coeur Basilica, Au Lapin Agile remains a very popular tourist destination today.
I gave permission to the Theatre Arts Department at Mercer University in Atlanta to use this image on their poster and program for their production "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" written by Steve Martin. The poster can be found on my facebook fan page: facebook.com/snippetsofnature .
