The rolling hills of California vary from a golden brown in summer to vibrant emerald greens and yellows in the winter and spring. Even the time of day drastically changes their appearance. These hills are in the San Francisco Bay Area, late in the afternoon when deep shadows were being cast.

Michael Wicksted was born in San Rafael, California but also lived in locations from Hawaii to Newfoundland. His grandfather, an artist by profession, was Michael's original inspiration in art, particularly due to his amazing pen and ink drawings.
