A graduate of the University of Illinois, Donn earned his fine arts degree in Architecture. While practicing in Colorado the mountains, his cowboy friends, the western and southwestern landscapes that surrounded him formed a base of recollections of the time he and his family spent in Colorado. He always thought it would be interesting to paint the mountains and the horses that he and his family raised and showed; if he only had the time. That time came when he closed his practice, gathered his painting materials and started his journey into the art world.
