Winona Artist Exhibiting At Driftless Area Art Festival This Weekend

September 11th, 2013 - Winona, MN

Winona artist Monica Veraguth will be exhibiting her artwork at the Driftless Area Art Festival located in Soldiers Grove, Wis. on September 14 and 15.

The Driftless Area, a unique region that escaped the glaciers of the Ice Age, is an inspirational setting to all manner of talented artists. Its hills and valleys are home to painters and potters, woodworkers and weavers, metalsmiths and musicians, vintners and brewmasters.

To see, hear and taste the exceptional variety of their creations, you usually have to visit studios and stores, cafes and concerts. But once a year, on the third weekend in September, these artists gather together in Crawford County, Wisconsin, at the Driftless Area Art Festival.

Enjoy a drive with exceptional scenery. Spend a few hours strolling through the exhibits. Taste some local fare and sip some local wines. Listen to some great music. Experience the beauty and artistry of the Driftless Area and take home some fine art and fine memories.

Veraguth emphasizes exaggerated colors, while creating striking contrast that evokes a mystery and moodiness that arouses emotion. Often featuring a very limited color palette creating simplistic scenes that are most captivating.

Striving to connect with audiences on an intimate level – through the familiar – while expanding on their past is key. Proliferating memories from years gone and instilling those impressions upon them once again.

Previously, Veraguth has been commissioned to illustrate four classic novels for an independent publishing company, along with a new title for the same publisher. She has also been published in a dark fantasy/horror book series titled “Dark Highlands Anthology,” along with being published in Fine Art magazine, fall 2011.

Veraguth has shown her work extensively throughout Winona and beyond; in art galleries, business offices, coffee shops, among other venues including juried art exhibitions. Many paintings are also held in private collections.

The Driftless Area Art Festival is located in Beauford T. Anderson Park in Soldiers Grove, 19 miles south of Viroqua, at the intersection of State Highway 131 and County Road C.

Admission and parking are free. Handicap parking is available, socialized dogs on leashes are permitted.
