Winners Of Images Of Summer Leisure Contest Announced

August 1st, 2014 - Butler, NJ

August 1, 2014– The Images of Summer Leisure photography contest is proud to announce the best relaxation and leisure photos on FAA! A record setting 1622 entries were received with over 1500 votes. Winners were selected by both Fine Art America members and the general public over a 7 day voting window.

Congratulations to Miryam Urza who ties for 1st place. Her photograph “Green Bridge” takes us around the world to Cantabria, Spain. On a beautiful sunny day, this bridge beckons us to walk out and enjoy the views across the water. Cantabria is perhaps best known around the world for some of the earliest and well preserved cave paintings. The paintings in the Cave at Altamira are estimated to be close to 39,000 years old.

Also, tied for 1st place is Dave Allen’s photograph, “Great Smoky Mountains National Park.” This photo takes us to the mountains of western North Carolina as rays of light pass through the clouds toward the valley floor. Extending over 400 miles through Virginia and North Carolina, the Blue Ridge Parkway provides unique photographic opportunities at every turn.

Second place goes to Robin Erisman’s photograph “Don’t Fence Me In.” Taken in front of a church in Southern Missouri, this photo invites a leisurely stroll amongst the wildflowers. The fence has long since served its purpose, and the flowers have taken over in their quest for summer light.

Third place goes to Dave Allen’s photograph “Folly Beach, Charleston, South Carolina.” Under the arrival of dark stormy skies, the waves pound against the shoreline in a dramatic photo of summer’s changeable weather. Very often, a leisurely stroll in a summer storm can yield some of the most impressive compositions.

Congratulations to the winners and all on FAA are encouraged to visit this collection of over 1600 images which convey summer leisure at its best.
