Wayne King Receives Double Honors In Annual Third Coast National Art Competition And Exhibition

September 17th, 2014 - Rumney, NH

Rumney, NH . . .New Hampshire photographer and artist Wayne D. King has been chosen among the honored photographers in the annual Art competition sponsored by The K Space Contemporary Art Gallery of Corpus Christi Texas. Two of King’s images were chosen from among more than 524 images submitted by 38 artists from across the US. Only two artists had more than one image selected.

“I’m grateful for the recognition,” said King. “To have two images chosen among the 524 entries is a real honor. While winning is always nice,” King continued, having more than one image among the top images is a sign of some consistency of effort and style.

The images chosen were both abstract images created by King from the digital manipulation of images that king believed offered the opportunity for creative alteration. “Cornflower Dreams Mindscape” is a powerful and beautiful color image with flowing lines and brilliant colors crafted from an image of a cornflower photographed at a flower show in Orlando Florida. “Empty Dreams” is a simple, yet intriguing, spherical image crafted from the corner of a stock image where alterations of the depth of field create a mysterious feeling in the viewer.

Wayne King’s images are a celebration of life, blending the real and the surreal to achieve a sense of place or time that reaches beyond the moment into a dreamlike quintessentialism designed to spark an emotional response. Using digital enhancement, handcrafting, painting, and sometimes even straight photography, King takes the viewer to a place that is beyond simple truth to where truth meets passion, hope and dreams.

The juror of the competition is Mark “Scrapcdaddy” Bradford a nationally renowned sculptor and artist.

In the case of both images, only one original signed print is available but open edition fine art prints, posters and greeting cards are also offered as an affordable alternative for art lovers who love art for the pure joy of it and don’t require a signed original.
