Ellen Moore’s art shows the generations of change America has endured over the years.

The Keswick, Va. Artist’s work is hanging at the Opelika Arts Association. Mostly collages of torn pieces of black and white photographs, her art also consists of color prints and etchings.

"I want people to get their own stuff out of my art," she said. "A lot of it is about the things we think that we need." Moore took most of the pictures in her collages, but some were negatives from her mother and grandmother.

"They were pictures from the ‘40's, and I blew them up. They are always combined with photos I took," she said. "Combining the two sort of brings the history together. It’s like three generations of photos combined there." All the pictures on display are for sale. Prints sell for $300 or more and collages are between $800 and $900.

As a child, Moore liked to draw people and buildings, which is still consistent with a lot of her work hanging in the association’s gallery. A 5- or 6- year-old-Moore can be seen in one piece entitled, "And She Leaves," currently exhibited in Opelika. "That was about the age that I decided I wanted to be an artist," she said.
