Rago Open House Features A Talk On Contemporary Glass Life Beyond Chihuly

May 18th, 2015 - Lambertville, NJ

RAGO OPEN HOUSE ON JUNE 4 FEATURES A TALK ON "CONTEMPORARY GLASS: LIFE BEYOND CHIHULY".

Lambertville, NJ: The Rago Arts and Auction Center hosts an open house on Thursday, June 4, featuring Arlene Silvers PhD, Curator of Contemporary Glass for the National Liberty Museum, speaking on, "Contemporary Glass: Life Beyond Chihuly," at 6 p.m.

Dr. Silvers, Curator of Contemporary Glass for the National Liberty Museum, will provide an informative survey of contemporary glass (often called studio glass), ranging from the processes used to make glass to how history has influenced the creative process and how the market values glass art. She will introduce the audience to the mega-star artists in the world beyond Dale Chihuly and consider the value of their work.

Arlene Silvers has been the Curator of Contemporary Glass for the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia since its founding in 2001. In that capacity, she has curated over 30 special exhibits, created a large and important annual glass art auction and introduced glass art to others throughout the world. Dr. Silvers is a former President of the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass, the foremost association for collectors of glass art. She holds a PhD in Economics and taught for many years at both Temple and Drexel University. She has been a passionate collector since the early days of the studio glass movement, and with her husband, Dr. Norman Silvers, has amassed one of the finest collections in the US.

A wine and cheese reception begins at 5 p.m. Dr. Silvers’ talk begins at 6 p.m. RSVP to 609.397.9374, ext. 119 or raac@ragoarts.com. If you are unable to rsvp in advance, please join us if you can. All are welcome.
