Mary Ann Nagan Feature Artist For September

August 22nd, 2015 - West Monroe, LA

The River Gallery is happy to feature Mary Ann Nagan, one of our newest members, for September.

A native of Wisconsin, Mary Ann recently moved to West Monroe, Louisiana.

Belonging to a large family of 8 brothers and sisters, the competition and love of art started at a very young age. She remembers, even before kindergarten, their father reviewing their art and grading it. They were always competing to see who would get the better grade. That family tradition still continues when family members annually get together for a week vacation to concentrate on producing art in the atmosphere of the north woods of Wisconsin. Her Christmas gifts always included some kind of art,

whether it was painting kits, crayons, pastels, colored pencils or oils.

Art has always been her passion. Marriage, children and career however, required that this activity be put on hold for some time. Now with the move to Louisiana, she is finding opportunity of additional time to work on her art.

Mary Ann has attended numerous workshops with national artists, including Karen Kappell, Diane Maxi, Frank Francese and others. In addition to learning a great deal from them, it was very beneficial to be working with other artists attending the workshops.

In a recent Louisiana competition, Mary Ann won a 2nd place award in the Transparent Watercolor Category. She primarily works in watercolor, pastels, fluid acrylics and watercolor pencils, but hopes to re-acquaint herself with oils and graphite.

Mary Ann has had her work displayed at Art Affair in Neenah, Wisconsin. She currently has her worked displayed in the Ouachita River Art Gallery in West Monroe, Louisiana and Coventry Glassworks & Gallery in Appleton, Wisconsin.

The River Gallery, 308 Trenton Street, West Monroe, invites you to come see this special show of Mary Ann’s work during the entire month of September. The gallery, is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. As part of the Cottonport Historic Cultural District of West Monroe, purchases of original art from the gallery are tax-free.
