Las Vegas Adventurer Participates In International Art Show

Visit Las Vegas artist, Bonnie Kelso at Las Vegas ArtExpo, booth #203, in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, September 19 through 21, 2008. Kelso, who paints mainly in acrylics, will be showing her work at this major art event. A local Las Vegas artist, Kelso captures the essence of the places closest to her heart. Popular subjects include Red Rock Canyon, Zion National Park, Grand Canyon, and the Pacific Ocean. Kelso, a diver, climber, adventurer and avid traveler, finds inspiration for her works via hands-on experience. Her respect and love for the outdoors are the core motivations behind her work. She captures the light and nuances of space and shape with her brilliant colors and voluminous abstracted forms.
Kelso is a recent prize winner of Sierra Arts’ Nevada Wide Open Competition: Biggest Little Art Show in Nevada. Her winning miniature acrylic on paper captures the beauty and spirit of the arch on Bridge Mountain at Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area. She has since completed a series of miniatures all inspired by views within this favorite natural attraction.
Her varied and interpretive works reflect some of her travels abroad as well. From the work "necking," inspired by observing young giraffes while on African safari, to the mysterious nature of underwater sea slugs, as seen in the work, “muse,” you can visually wander through her experiences and make them your own.
Kelso, originally from the East Coast, is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design. A former exhibit designer, she has worked for well known museums such as the Newseum and the Smithsonian Institution. Her crafted compositions reflect her knowledge of color relationships and design elements. Come to ArtExpo and see them for yourself.
