James Christiansen 3 Paintings Degas Gallery New Orleans

Jim Christiansen was invited to exhibit Carnival Themed paintings at The Degas Gallery, 604 Julia Street, Suite 101, New Orleans. Part of a group show, Christiansen submitted acrylics "Live Jazz Revisited", "Live Jam" and "Flambeaux Tradition". Show opened January 15, and hangs through Mardi Gras until February 17. Contacted originally regarding oil painting "Live Jazz" from Christiansen's Jazz Series, Jim created these three new paintings for this show, as the oil had already sold. The original series also includes "Jazz Squared," the only 20 x 20 and the thirteenth of the original 12 image 16 x 20 inch sized Jazz Series. "Jazz Squared" is the CD cover graphic for Jamie Dubberly and Orquesta Dharma's "La Clave del Gumbo" latin jazz fusion to NOLA rythmns, album released in 2015. The album was first release since Dubberly and Pacific Mambo Orchestra won the Latin Jazz Grammy in 2014.

James D. Christiansen is an award winning watercolorist, cartoonist, currently showing with new awards at the Delicato Family Vineyards Fine Art Show 2016, and recently showing with Yvette LaForce with Gallery Red group in Las Vegas. Christiansen is based out of Modesto, California. He will host an Open Studio weekend at his home studio, during the 2016 Stanislaus Artist Open Studio, April 23 and 24.
