Inauguration Of Parvaaz Group Exhibition

(Udaipur – February 23) A group of 6 artists from Lucknow are putting up a group exhibition of paintings, prints and sculptures titled ‘PARVAAZ’, which translates to ‘the first flight’, symbolic of the fact that this is the first time the group is exhibiting in Udaipur. The exhibition will be put up at the West Zone Cultural Centre, Bagore Ki Haveli, Gangaur Ghat in Udaipur and commences on 23rd February 2015 at 5:00 pm and will continue till 27th February. The visiting hours will be 10 am to 7 pm from 24th February onwards. Eminent artist, Prof. Shail Choyal has consented to inaugurate the exhibition.
The time of the year that the group is putting up the exhibition at, quite relates to the title of the exhibition as well, for this is supposed to be a fresh start of the new year for the group, in this being their first exhibition of the year, and hence the ‘first flight’.
The group consists of painters and printmakers Karan Sawnani, Shalini Rana, Sanjay Raj and Sandeep Rajput, as well as sculptors Vibhawari Singh and Dheeraj Mandhyani. Vibhawari Singh is a lecturer at Lucknow College of Arts and Crafts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Lucknow University while Karan, Shalini, Sanjay, Sandeep and Dheeraj are students at the same.
The exhibition displays variety, in that it has works in three different media – painting, printmaking as well as sculpture. Versatility in subjects and ideology is on display as well, with Karan’s works incorporating elements from the urban society amalgamating the concealed and the forgotten with the fancy and the popular, Sandeep’s prints and paintings narrating the story of his life, Shalini’s mini-prints exploring her complex ideas with simplicity, Sanjay’s works that materialize continuity and change in nature in visual form, and the sculptures of Dheeraj, and Vibhawari Singh. Landscapes by Karan are on display as well.
