Four Devon Wilke Photographs Submitted To 2014 Peace Project

September 1st, 2014 - Playa Del Rey, CA

Photographer Lorraine Devon Wilke has donated four of her photographs to The Peace Project 2014, an event described as "an international social movement powered by the belief that through creativity and community we can change the world."

Launched in 2010 by Lisa Schultz, the founder of the online creative community TheWhole9.com, The Peace Project has worked in a variety of ways to inspire and initiate not only artistic contributions in the name of peace, but also by taking action. From their site:

"The Peace Project then embarked on an extraordinary initiative for 2011, Operation Rise, which was developed to help get the people of Sierra Leone on their feet. On September 21, 2011, World Peace Day, Operation Rise was successfully implemented and 10,000 pairs of crutches and repairs parts were distributed throughout Sierra Leone to amputees, war victims and children -- proving that great change can happen very quickly if people around the world join hands."

For this year's Peace Project, a call was once again put out to artists from around the world to submit work that embodies their vision of "peace," either literal, artistic, symbolic, or suggested. 120 pieces will be selected to participate in a traveling exhibit making stops throughout the United States, with the intent of inspiring conversations and calls-to-action on the topic of peace.

Devon Wilke submitted four of her photographs that depict visions of peace in a variety of ways: "Solving the Problems of the Universe," "Serenity Surrounds," "Peace In Flight" and "Joyful." The results of the judges' selections will be announced on September 12, 2014.
