Fine Art Exhibit Oak Brook Peabody Estate

September 22nd, 2014 - Oak Brook, IL

Oak Brook, IL – Currently on display at the Mayslake Peabody Estate is a two-part Fine Art Exhibition by local Oak Brook artist Judith Barath. This exhibition highlights Judith’s two favorite mediums. Half of the display is devoted to her large format, nature inspired, vibrantly colored landscapes done in oil on canvas. The second portion encompasses a wide variety of subject matter captured in stunning black and white photography - where her eye has captured highlights, shadows and textures all which combine to set the mood of each photograph.

In describing her subject matter, Judith says “I love to paint nature! The intent is that my enthusiasm and excitement for the natural surroundings comes across on the vibrant canvases. I’ve always been fascinated by the beauty and harmony that nature provides, and I try to capture that feeling of brilliant light, abundance of flora and atmosphere of colors.”

Judith Barath graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest, Hungary, where she earned a B.A. degree in graphic design. After college she worked as a freelance illustrator and designer and was sought after for many projects by major Hungarian companies. She has illustrated children's books, record covers, movie posters, and greeting cards as well as designed logos, corporate identity presentations, and animated television commercials. One of her animated movie commercials won the Golden Lion Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Since the year 2000, Judith has been creating art which has been exhibited in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles along with many other North American locations. Internationally her pieces have been shown in London, Buenos Aires and Florence.

Mayslake Peabody Estate is located at 1717 W. 31st Street, in Oak Brook Illinois and is owned and operated as an education center for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. The historic 39-room Tudor revival style mansion makes for the ideal location to display artwork of this size and scale. This current exhibit entitled “From B&W Moods to Bright Color Lands” is the second solo exhibition that Judith has produced at Mayslake – her previous being in 2008.

The exhibition is on display through October 31 and is free to the public. Exhibition hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm and Saturday, 9am – 1pm. For more information please call Mayslake Peabody Estate at (630) 206-9566.
