Dress You Up In My Love...

September 4th, 2015 - Astoria, NY

My aesthetic practice over the past several years has been focusd on multi-media sculptural and painted works primarily inspired by the experience of life as a woman, the charged and nebulous relationship between subject and object, and the formal and sensual qualities of the materials (such as wire, fabric, wax, papier mache, clay, frosting, glitter, faux fur). Conceptually, the work also wanders the historical terrain of women artists who investigate femininity, and the female body and experience as a political, social, cultural, and psychological space to address the enduring issues of feminism. Utilizing digital programs as a tool to develop my gallery work has allowed me to return to my textile and design roots with the development of decorative patterned collages for prints and housewares. Currently I aim to create imagery that projects a feeling of playful contemporary luxury, such as this collage (one of a series of three color ways in slate, blue, and pink) which combines and abstracts a vintage damask pattern with roses, that seem well suited to housewares.

I am so excited to have access to Fine Art America's technology that allows graphic works to be adapted for printed home decor. Ridiculously affordable, FAA will custom produce in an array of sizes: paper, metal, and canvas prints; pillows; duvets; shower curtains; iPhone cases; t-shirts and more... featuring my originals. So, yes! We can dress you (and your home) up in my love! Cool, huh? Check it out!
