Clara K. Johnson Selected For Coveted Artist Membership At Artspace

July 20th, 2015 - Raleigh, NC

Clara K. Johnson, mixed media artist, announced that she has been selected to join the coveted artist membership of ArtSpace in downtown Raleigh, NC. Clara will debut at Artspace during the July First Friday Gallery Walk on July 3, 2015. She will be located in Studio 104, with visiting hours Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00am to 6:00pm, and during every First Friday Gallery Walk from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.

Located at 201 East Davie Street in downtown Raleigh, Artspace is Raleigh’s visual art center for creation and interaction, inspiring creativity by engaging the community in the visual arts process. With a dynamic studio environment of established and emerging artists, Artspace is a center for hands-on arts education and nationally acclaimed exhibitions.

“We are delighted to have Clara at Artspace. Her enthusiasm is infectious. Our panel of Artspace member artists and local industry professional jurors were impressed with the consistency of her body of work. She has a very unique voice, and she offers some different kind of pieces from other Artspace artists,” said Annah Lee, Director of Artistic Programs at Artspace. “She clearly wants to be an integral part of the art community here, which will help foster the sort of creative environment we are hoping to perpetuate. I know Clara will be a fantastic fit for Artspace.”

Clara K. Johnson is mostly known for her multi-media, abstract paintings. Over the past two years she's delved into “Creation Beyond The Surface”, designing 3D wire sculptures carried at StUf n SUCh in Lafayette Village, as well as beautiful decorative bowls made of paper and fine fabrics available at the Little Art Gallery in Cameron Village in Raleigh and the Duke Nasher Museum Store in Durham.

While it was her submission of 3D sculptures that impressed the ArtSpace judging committee, her bowls are quite popular as well.
