Cilley Hill Road Limited Time Offer
July 26th, 2015 - Grand Isle, VT
This is one of career favorites. Cilley Hill Road, in Jericho Vermont, was near my home and I photographed it many time, but I never was happy with the results. I felt there was something special there with the lone white birch, the trees forming a tunnel and the way the road faded into the distance. One day, I headed out at sunrise and noticed a patch of fog and thought I would explore it. The fog was too thick and again I was let down by the results. I finished packing my view camera and looked up and the fog thinned slightly and it was perfect. I rushed to put my camera equipment together. My view camera is the kind of camera where you put a black cloth over your head and view the image upside down. I made one exposure and the fog lifted and the road went back to being just another dirt road in Vermont.
