Lunenburg Photographer Brings Light to the Last Days of a Long Winter

Hanover Gallery Features Artist’s Photography

(Hanover, Va.) Robby Batte, a native of Victoria, Va currently residing in Richmond, is the featured artist through April 25 at Art Studio @301 in Hanover. Batte will be on hand at a reception at the gallery Saturday, March 14, between noon and 4 p.m., to answer questions about his exhibit, “Chasing the Light,” and share his experiences as a “ruralographer.”

“A lot of what catches my eye is rural scenes; but the thread, or the story line, that runs through all of my photographs is the light,” says Batte. “Whether it’s the sun reflecting off the roof of a barn, the festive lights of a carnival in a mall parking lot or the night view of Richmond from Libby Hill, the light is what gives a scene soul and draws us deeper into the story the photograph is telling.”

Batte and his work have recently been honored by the Lunenburg Historical Society. Last year one of Batte’s photos received Honorable Mention in the Virginia Vistas Photography Contest, sponsored by Scenic Virginia and The Richmond Times Dispatch. That photo, among others, is on display at Art Studio @ 301, located at 13297 Hanover Courthouse Rd., Hanover, Va. 23069.
