Cathy Carey Art Studio And Garden Tour To Benefit Golden Retrievers

September 30th, 2015 - Escondido, CA

Escondido, CA - Reception December 5 & 6 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day - Every year on the first weekend of December, Escondido artist Cathy Carey produces an event to help raise funds for local animals who need help. This year she is hosting a benefit for the Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue (SCGRR), for a suggested $10 donation. All donations go directly to the wonderful people greeting you at the door from SCGRR. Upon attendance you are treated to a tour of Cathy Carey’s Art Studio and Garden. You’ll be able to sample tasty refreshments and flavorful beverages while you view the colorful paintings and garden. As part of her continued support of the Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue, Cathy will match $5 for every donation.

Self Guided Garden and Studio Tour

Enjoy the beautiful drought tolerant succulent garden, with many imaginative groupings of plants, wine bottles, and sculptures by other local artists. The one acre property high on a hill, overlooks Lake Hodges and surrounding inland areas. The focal point of the garden is her Glass House studio, which will be transformed into a Golden Retriever boutique. Take photos with Santa Atticus (one of the favorite rescue goldens at SCGRR), and find Golden themed gifts like Christmas Ornaments for sale from SCGRR. Cathy Carey’s paintings are displayed throughout her colorful house and studio.

The Contemporary Expressive Colorist style of Cathy Carey

The style of Cathy Carey’s paintings is a blend of impressionist brush strokes, vivid expressive color and symbolic images that impart a sense of emotion and mood. “I love animals. Through knowing my dogs I came to realize and believe that all animals have the same feelings and moods as we do. They are soul spirits in different bodies.” Her paintings present colorful slices of life using local and exotic locales. Cathy’s current series is of wildlife; owls, quail, coyotes, and foxes, many of which she has seen in her garden. “I love working with native animals in the area, we are all part of the interdependent pattern of our shared coexistence.” For Cathy Carey, art is a communication. “I feel it is my mission in life to bring happiness and joy through my art to as many people as I can. I add something of my soul to every painting, so that when someone looks at my artwork long after I’m dead, some enmeshed part of my spirit is gazing back, saying “be of good cheer”. I am communicating through my work that we are all connected through beauty and love. By supporting organizations that help animals and especially my beloved Goldens, I feel I am giving back to the source of so much of my inspiration.”

A favorite from year to year is the hand made Painted Jewelry Collection Carey makes, based on her paintings. She fires and shapes the pieces into one of a kind earrings, necklaces and bracelets.

The Good Deeds of Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue

The beneficiary to this fun event is the Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue, which is the 3rd largest Golden rescue in the U.S. “We are foster based and cover the Southern California area. Our mission is to find loving, lifetime homes for all of our Goldens in need, regardless of conditions or circumstances. We will always strive to heal the sick and injured, rehabilitate the neglected and abused and nurture the aged and unwanted until we find the perfect family who shower them with unconditional love.” Their vision is to build a refuge- a sanctuary- to serve as a halfway house where each of their beloved Goldens can rest and recuperate, prior to being placed with a foster or permanent family and moving on in their new lives. “Not all of our Goldens we rescue leave us for permanent homes. Some are not adoptable for health reasons so they remain with the rescue in committed foster homes who love and care for them without the worry of financial burden. Your very generous donations and our successful EBay auction in November of each year help us to continue this valuable part of our rescue.” Some of their permanent fosters have forms of cancer, heartworm, hip dysplasia and arthritis: all issues that need continued financial support. “We have over 20 permanent fosters that are cared for in our rescue now. We spent almost $300,000 last year alone in medical/vet costs. Thanks you to our supporters we saved over 300 Goldens in need!”
