Cathy Carey Art Show Colorful California

Encinitas, CA - Reception April 2, 2015 from 5 pm - 8 pm - Inside the Mainstreet Association office, artist Cathy Carey will be displaying her vividly colored paintings. Enjoy an opportunity to meet Cathy Carey, at the March 5 First Thursday event sponsored by the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce. On display at E101 Gallery at 818 S. Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas, will be Cathy’s colorful, expressive paintings. She will be featuring paintings of the coastal area, including Swami’s and native gardens. Some of her paintings feature coyote’s, fox, owls and quail, all part of the beautiful pattern of our shared coexistence. The show runs from February 27 to April 10, 2015.

The Contemporary Expressive Colorist style of Cathy Carey is a blend of impressionist brush strokes, vivid expressive color and symbolic images that impart a sense of emotion and mood. Cathy Carey’s oil paintings are more than the reality of description and instead create images that feel joyous and exhilarating. “I want to create movement in my compositions so

I combine colors and shapes to feel like the pulse between music and dancers”. This show will present colorful slices of life in coastal and inland North County. “I paint scenes of places that I love. The California coast in North County is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Another favorite subject I like to paint are the animals that we share the environment with, and show the relationship of our interdependent world.”

Cathy Carey is an award winning Escondido artist, who was born in Washington, DC. and educated at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC. She received a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Cathy has won numerous awards and her paintings are in many private collections including Larry Page of Google and J. Craig Venter of the Venter Institute in La Jolla. She has exhibited her paintings in galleries in Virginia, New Mexico and California, and regularly shows in the Escondido Municipal Gallery. Her paintings are currently represented at La Playa Gallery in La Jolla and in Taos, NM at The Ranch at Taos. She had a one person show at Arroyo Gallery on Canyon Road in Santa Fe in 2013. Her teaching career includes: The Art Institute of California in San Diego, workshops in Santa Fe, NM, Pasadena, CA, the Golden Door, Escondido, CA and her studio in Escondido, CA .
