Artist Min W Selected For California Senate Contemporary Art Collection Exhibit

June 13th, 2015 - El Monte, Ca

On June 1, 2015 it was announced that Min W of Min W Fine Art & School was nominated and selected as the local artist to represent Senator Ed Hernandez District for the 2015 – 2106 California State Senate Contemporary Art Collection Exhibit.

The CA State Senate Contemporary Art Collection will be on display at Legislative Caucus rooms near the Senate Chambers and the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms office at the State Capital in Sacramento, CA. The exhibit will last for approximately eighteen (18) months and a collection catalogue is also produced to highlight the artists selected during this exhibit period.

Born in China, Min W, immigrated to the United States in 2008 and became a naturalized citizen in 2012. Min W's exposure to the art world began at a very early age and became a love of her ambitions and continues to depict the world of art through her eyes today. Min W attended Hunan University receiving her Bachelors of Arts degree with concentration on all aspects of painting, photography, interior design, styles and mediums utilizing Water, Oil, Acrylic, Chinese Brush watercolor and sketch in Landscapes, Abstract, Murals, Impressionism and other subject matter. Min W received her Masters Degree in Art from Guanzhou Graduate School.

In 1999, Min W was selected as one of four (4) outstanding female artists that were featured and exhibited the annual Provincial Art Gallery Exhibit in Shenzhen, China. This honor resulted in wide media coverage from news articles, television coverage and a book published featuring their works, dedication and outstanding contribution to the art world in China.

Min W has exhibited her painting in numerous solo and juried group exhibits, being selected for honors and awards for excellence in the United States, England and China. Being a diversified and detail artist, Min W has created paintings of a wide realm of subject matter, styles and impressions. The “On the Hunt” of a great white shark is one example of her contemporary style impression paintings and was selected for this exhibit.

As an Art Instructor, Min W students have been distinguished each year through examinations and participation in International and national student competitions that has empowered them to attend some of the finest art universities. Min W has been chosen for numerous instructor awards and for the Chinese National Teachers Award with the efforts of her student’s achievements in the art world.

Min W is a member of the “Monrovia Association of Fine Arts” and the “San Gabriel Fine Arts Association”.
