ORIGINAL ARTWORK OF PRESIDENT NELSON MANDELA AND DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. TO BE HIGHLIGHTED IN THE "RAINBOW MEN" ART EXHIBIT

Washington, DC - May 4, 2015

The Sol Studio, Harlem, NY, is pleased to present, Rainbow Men: Strength of Character, Community & Courage featuring the work South African civil rights artist, Dari. The exhibit includes paintings and sculptures honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and President Nelson Mandela. The Rainbow Men gallery will run from Thursday, June 4 - Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Washington, D.C. Economic Partnership with an opening reception on Friday, June 4 from 6:00p - 9:00p.

Dari’s “Rainbow Men” series is inspired by the civil rights work, philosophies, and peaceful ideologies for change that were shared by Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and President Nelson Mandela. Amongst her civil rights work, Dari's "WOMAN EVOLVE" series of bronze sculptures are well known gender equality works. She was commissioned to create a 13,600lb granite monument paying tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr that will be installed outside the Northwest Regional Library in Coral Springs, Florida. This will be the first MLK monument in Broward County.

The proceeds of all her civil rights work benefit education and scholarships, in her attempt to uplift the lives of young people who could conceivably make a difference in the future. Presently, the Martin Luther King Committee of Coral Springs will receive the scholarship funds. Dari states, “The issues of civil rights, gender equality, non-violence, child abuse and slave trafficking are always uppermost in my mind. The survivors of and activists against these atrocities are my greatest inspiration.”

The Rainbow Men exhibit will be held at the Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP), 1495 F St, NW 202-661-8670. The exhibit is open daily from June 5 through July 18, 2015.
