Artist Beau Brooks Releases New Surreal Series

April 16th, 2014 - Radford, VA

Artist and occultist Beau Brooks has previously been known for his fine art nude photography, but just this month he began releasing a new series of work combining elements of abstract, fractal, and surreal art with the female form as its centerpiece.

"The work is fluid, frightening, ethereal, and at times grotesque," comments Beau. He went on to describe his new work as painfully human, vulnerable, and illusional. Some may see the work and assume that the grotesque exaggerations of features are misogynist or degrading to women. The art is however, a stab at the modeling industry which is infamous for producing unrealistic magazine cover portraits, eating disorders, and unrealistic expectations torwards the female being and form.

"I've had friends in the modeling business that wound up with mental disorders, drug problems, and being exploited. My art is questioning the motives and processes that occur in the name of fine art." Beau went on to say that he has the utmost respect for women and his work is done out of pure admiration for them. "People are fluid. I try to show this in my new work. I don't want the models in my art to appear static anymore, but as vulnerable, dynamic, and changing beings."

More is yet to come.
