Robert Blount Unveils COLORED IN COLOR

June 18th, 2015 - Pikesville, MD

COLORED IN COLOR is a fun, honest and heart-felt interpretation of the journey of an American people. The joy of family story-telling is simply universal. So, the vivid works presented by The Robert Blount Collection shares the rich history and countless tales that have inspired the artist over the years. This collection purposely celebrates the Black experience that has affected all cultures. The artistic integrity and sincerity of the artist encourages everyone, regardless of race, faith or orientation to reflect on how their cultural history fits into these scenarios. The legendary actress, singer and civil rights activist, Lena Horne’s daughter, Gail Lumet Buckley said, “Family faces are mirrors. Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present and future!”

COLORED IN COLOR is a unique multi-series visual collection of American life. The original works were produced as acrylic on ceramic tile and acrylic/oil on canvass. They have gained attention for the vibrant colors and mood of the whimsical characters portrayed in the works. Each piece is an episode that not only entertains the spirit, but has a special role in African American history and culture.

The artist, Robert Blount proudly credits his elders, family friends and mentors for opening the door to the past so that this inspirational work can open dialogue and create conversations for generations to come. “I have been fortunate to have had relatives who engaged me, inspired me and challenged me to sit still and listen. Now it’s my turn to engage others, especially our youth.”
