About this Group

Science FictionThis group is devoted exclusively to artwork depicting Science Fiction* themed subject matter, whether it be hard, soft, cyber punk, military, apocalypse/post apocalypse, alien invasion/alien contact, alternate universe, steampunk, time travel, or space opera, all are welcomed here. Work can be derivative, but it must be original.

*Science fiction is a genre of fiction that draws imaginatively on scientific knowledge and speculation in its plot, setting, theme, etc. This involves the imaginative depiction of future settings, futuristic science and technology, space travel, aliens, and paranormal abilities.

Our Mission Statement: 'To Showcase the 'Best in Science Fiction' Art.'

To join our group, your work must meet one or more of the following criteria:

1. A time setting in the future, in alternative timelines, or in a historical past that contradicts known facts of history or the archaeological record.
2. A spatial setting or scenes in outer space (e.g., spaceflight), on other worlds, or on subterranean earth.
3. Characters that include aliens, mutants, androids, or humanoid robots.
4. Technology that is futuristic (e.g., ray guns, teleportation machines, humanoid computers).
5. Scientific principles that are new or that contradict known laws of nature, for example time travel, wormholes, or faster-than-light travel.
6. New and different political or social systems (e.g. dystopia, post-scarcity, or a post-apocalyptic situation where organized society has collapsed).
7. Paranormal abilities such as mind control, telepathy, telekinesis, and teleportation.

NOTE: Images not fitting the above criteria will be removed. NO ABSTRACTS, CONCEPTUALISM, SURREALISM, FRACTALS, AND FANTASY ART (Meaning: fairies, dragons, angels, mermaids, dwarfs, unicorns, etc.) WILL NOT BE FEATURED HERE, in whatever media it is shown.

All art work must depict VISUALLY RECOGNIZABLE science fiction-themed subject matter. THE WORK SHOULD SPEAK FOR ITSELF!!!

Most Sincerely,
Walter O. Neal, Group Administrator
