This group is created to showcase artworks that display a visual Story. Story Art!
Story Art is not new, in fact the concept of this thought, to creating art that conveys a story, is seen as far back as the cave drawing done by the ancients. I think what is new is the terminology used to describe it... Story Art.... a little different then Visual Message Art, as that genre leads itself more to a moral or message conveyed using slightly different elements....both overlap and sometimes impossible to distinguish between what is Visual Message Art and what is Story Art.... In my opinion, Story Art tells more about cultures, people, events, legends, stories of humanity, or of nature, truthfully the possibilities are endless and only limited by the creative's vision.... The Story Art images generally include more clues and requires thought to understand the story... or interpret the story in line with the artist's vision but as with some of the ancient cave painting we (humanity) are still trying to figure it out thousands of years later.
The main Criteria for submissions is - the image must tell a story.... To me a flower does not tell a story, nor does obscure abstracts.... Animals are cute and lovely to look at but unless something unusual is happening in the image I don't see a story in an image of a bird in a tree or splashing in a pond. Same as portraits, the person in the image might have an amazing story attached to their likeness but an image of a face doesn't not offer me that story.. it's a portrait...Works of hate, obscenity or cruelty will also be rejected. Artistic nudity is accepted providing it is not explicit or graphic in nature, in other words no offensive images. Must be an original work of art. No reproductions or image depicting someone else's work. No writing on the image (signature ok)
And... image will be rejected without notice.
Everyone is free to argue the subjective nature of art interpretations and my opinions but rarely do I get asked why I deleted their image for not meeting the criteria, but I know I have upset some people in the process, so I started a discussion thread on on Fine Art America's forum and would appreciate your thoughts on the topic of What is and What is not Story Art. See discussion tab for the link.
All mediums are welcome, sculptures, paintings, photographs, digital arts, creations of all kinds!!
One submission per day maximum.
No limit on accumulative images held in MOUSE per artist.
