Passing through Memphis I spied this vintage Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake sign hanging outside the Wonder Bakery. Visions of PBJs, Twinkies, Ho Hos, Ding Dongs and Cupcakes filled my head. Ahh, the joys of childhood! Like a moth to a flame I was drawn to the sign. After snapping a few images I was off to the nearest convenience store for a Twinkies fix!
Wonder Bread was first sold in 1921, and in 1930 became one of the first breads sold pre-sliced. A wonder for its time! Clever marketing introduced the popular phrase, "The greatest thing since sliced bread."
