Description
I had a notion to visit Quebec City, Canada, every since a friend had shared her pictures of the historic city in summer several years ago. I hadn't really considered going in winter, though. Although I've gone to Europe in the winter several times, I knew Canada in the winter was a whole other experience, but then I saw a few photos of Quebec City in the snow and I was sold. It has that old world charm that I love so much combined with an almost Dickensian image of the winter season.
And it was everything I expected from cold to beautiful. This photo-based artwork is based on a picture taken my very first day in Vieux-Quebec. I arrived after dark, which isn't normally how I prefer to get to know a new city, but with all the festive lights and the snow, I could hardly complain. The city to my eyes looked as warm as my bones said it was cold.

Beautiful wintery scene. I heard Quebec is beautiful and a great place to visit. It's on our bucket list. Nice composition Mark! L.

Thanks so much Emmy! I have a friend who moved from Miami to Canada. When I saw her vacation photos of a summer day they spent in Quebec City it started the wheels in motion! I really wanted the full on cold, snowy winter experience and it delivered in spades.
