The Williams Tower is the hallmark of the Galleria Area of Houston, Texas. Rising above the city, Williams Tower boasts a revolving beacon that grasps the attention of anyone who is looking across the city. Williams Tower, formerly known as the Transco Tower, was built in 1981 and completed in 1982. Designed by New York based John Burgee Architects with Philip Johnson and Morris Architects of Houston. Today, Williams Tower is the home of the Williams Companies, Quanta Services, the Rowan Companies and the headquarters for the Hines companies. Williams Tower is 64 stories tall making it the fourth tallest building in the State of Texas. When construction was complete in 1982, Williams Tower was the tallest skyscraper outside of a city’s central business district.
